What is the best programming language for what I want to do?

I want to create a simple 2d representation of a chemistry set. Basically a representation of molecular geometry. If you had to pick one programming language in which to do this, which one would you use?

The simplest answer is use the tools you are familiar with and whether you want to pay. In terms of languages out there I would look at some of the interpreted languages such as Java, C#. But in the end it comes down to want you are familiar with and how much you want to pay for a compiler, libraries etc.
